ISONAS Configuration Tool
The ISONAS Configuration Tool broadcasts on the local network to discover online hardware. Once devices are found, the IP Bridge can be configured to connect to Zentra. A Windows PC is required to run the tool.
Download the Configuration Tool
Download the latest version of the ISONAS Hardware Configuration Tool from the Zentra support resources page. A Windows PC is required.
Using the Configuration Tool
- Launch the Configuration Tool on a Windows PC connected to the same subnet as your devices.
- Click the discovery button to find any Zentra devices on the local area network.
- If no devices appear, ensure the PC is on the same subnet as the readers/bridges (broadcast packets are not routed).
- Once devices are discovered, proceed toAdvanced Configuration.
Advanced Configuration
Advanced Configuration allows you to change the host address devices connect to and set network addressing (DHCP or static IP).
- Set all devices toClient Modeto initiate a connection with Zentra. Server Mode is reserved for firmware updates only.
- Set the Host Address URL using the drop-down menu:
- Default:isonaspureaccess.com
- For Pure Access Manager: click "Specify Host IP Address" and enter the server's IP.
- Leave DNS as default8.8.4.4(Google's free DNS) unless your network requires a different DNS server.
- All devices are set to DHCP by default (recommended). If static addresses are used, ensure all network values (IP, Subnet, Gateway, DNS) are correct.
- Select the checkbox for each device in the "Discovered Units" window and clickConfigure.
- The "Complete" column should showYes, the Configure button should display a green check mark, and the unit should reboot.
- Use theConfigure Allbutton to push settings to multiple readers at once. Note: if static IPs are assigned, configure units individually.
Contact your network administrator for help configuring your network settings.
Reviewing Network Config Settings
- Discover the unit on the subnet.
- Highlight it in the Discovered Units field.
- ClickAdvanced Settings.
- ClickShow Reader Info.
A "Current Information" window will appear displaying the configuration settings of the device. You can compare settings across multiple units by highlighting different devices.
Connectivity Test
The Connectivity Test ensures your network environment is properly configured for online devices. It runs four tests:
- Test 1:Pings the specified DNS server (Google DNS by default) 4 times and averages response time to confirm DNS connectivity.
- Test 2:Finds routing info for Zentra using the specified DNS server.
- Test 3:Tests connectivity to Zentra by pinging the environment 4 times and averaging response times.
- Test 4:Simulates a device connection by ensuring a simulated online device can connect to Zentra through port 55533.
Results can be clicked to display more information. Results can be exported or printed for further review.
Discovering Units
If no devices appear after clicking the discovery button or you do not see all devices:
- Verify that all devices are powered up and fully booted.
- Fully booted Schlage RC: top LED lit red.
- Fully booted IP-Bridge: top left LED lit green.
- Verify the Windows PC with the Configuration Tool is connected to the correct network and has a valid IP address.
- Ensure all devices are on the same subnet. The Configuration Tool uses broadcast packets; broadcast traffic is dropped by routers, so only devices on the same network segment will be discovered.
- If using VLANs, verify with your IT Administrator that all switch ports are on the correct VLAN.
Find Device by IP
To discover a device using its IP address or IP range:
- SelectAdd Device by IP.
- Select theScan IP Rangecheck box.
- Enter the start address and the last octet of the end address.
- SelectAdd Device.
- Select the discovered units by checking their checkbox, or select all discovered devices.
- Configure them to the appropriate URL.
