Deactivate Device
What Happens When a Device Is Deactivated
Deactivating a device does not disable credential access or suspend access rules. The device continues to operate using its onboard database. Deactivation severs the server connection only — the device cannot receive updates or sync until it is reactivated.
Behavior by Device Type
Device Type | Credential Access | Receives Server Updates | BLE / Wi-Fi Sync |
|---|---|---|---|
Online | Physical, BLE, and NFC credentials continue to work | No | N/A |
Offline / Wireless (Control, LE, LEB, NDEB, CTE, XE360) | Physical, BLE, and NFC credentials continue to work | No | Not possible while deactivated |
Deactivation is a required step before deletion. To permanently remove a device, deactivate it first, then proceed to delete it.
From the Actions Menu
- Navigate toDevices.
- Click
next to the Device you want to deactivate. - SelectDeactivate Device.
- Notice the confirmation message:
From the Edit Devices Screen
- Navigate toDevices.
- Click
next to the Device you want to deactivate. - SelectEdit Device.
- Toggle theActiveswitch to the off position.
- ClickSave.
Deactivating an Device will not suspend access permissions at it; grant access and auto unlock rules will continue to operate at the device according to the last compile it processed. When an online device is deactivated it will lose connection from the server and will not be able to reconnect until it is reactivated.
