Master Credential (Pass Through)

A Master Credential is a credential that has access to all openings in a site. Master Credentials are generally used for property maintenance, fire department and other emergency access.

This Special Programming feature is currently misnamed —It should be considered a Pass Through credential. This property enables the credential to do the following:

• Unlocks a lock momentarily.
• Grants access to a lock in Freeze and Lock Down states.
• Grants access during scheduled Holiday lockouts.
• Attempts to unlock a device that is in “Critical Battery Mode”

! Note that a master credential in this capacity does not provide grant access permissions to all access points in a tenant. The user profile with a true “master credential” must have Grant Access permission for the access point(s) they’re attempting to access otherwise they will be declined

!Because a master credential can unlock every device in a site, special care must be exercised to keep it secure. If a master credential is lost, the devices must be synced to remove that credential from every device in the site.
